Almost connected

The twinning of the Japanese friendship bridge continues and the pillar sections get ever closer to joining.

Pillars expanding outwards

Lots of progress on the bridge the last couple months. All pillars are growing outwards to eventually join together.

Pillars growing

There has been a lot of progress on the pillars of the Japanese Friendship bridge twin. Also, the ramps up to the bridge on both sides are coming together. The completion of the project is slotted for mid-2014.

Problems?

I just knew this project was taking far too long and today something fishy was going on. When I rode past today, they were jack-hammering the centre pillars and dumping the concrete + re-bar into the river. Makes me think that someone screwed up but I could be wrong. The centre pillars have not progressed much at all in the last year. Lets hope this half of the bridge is as good as the Japanese built half.

High Waters

I’m no bridge builder but it is really taking forever to get the foundations in place for the new Japanese Friendship twin. My only thought is that the water level is too high (being the peak of rainy season).
